FUNCTIONAL RECOVERY OF THE FREE OLD PORT WAREHOUSE 26 IN TRIESTE

The Warehouse 26, located within the area of the old port of Trieste was built in the late 1800s (1890-1897) and has a historical and architectural interest. The covered area is divided into four floors and a basement, and has a total volume of 30,172 square meters, total volume is cubic meters 112,069. The intervention was developed in full recovery of the entire building in all its architectural parts and parts of structures more degraded were fully recovered: the package of hedging, the exterior plaster, frames, decorations and pilasters, historic windows. It was also carried out the conservative cleaning of all the stone surfaces with integration of the missing parts, of the historical structures in cast iron. Conservative restoration of historic lifting equipment (cranes and winches), of sandstone paving and of all the iron structures forming the bearing frame of the building.
