“VIE D’ACQUA PROJECT” – EXPO/FAIR

The “Via d’Acqua” is the new channel, about 20 km long, which will carry water from the Villoresi Channel to the Naviglio Grande passing through the Expo 2015 site.The connection between the Villoresi Channel and the Naviglio Grande will assure also the continuity of the bicycle and pedestrian paths between the two channels, closing the “Anello Verde-Azzurro” circuit, over 120 km long.The subjects of this Executive Design are the South Section, the hydraulic connection between the Expo site and the Naviglio Grande 10 km long, and the bicycle and pedestrian connection between the Expo site, the city Fair site and the Darsena (dock site), 20 km long. The “Via d’Acqua” is a channel, partly underground and partly open sky, which develops inside Milan city, mainly crossing public parks and green areas. The bicycle and pedestrian lane runs also inside the town, parallel to the channel, allowing a continuous connection between the different urban parks.
